Welcome to my website! I’m Jai’la Anderson, a 20 year old artist who loves everything about art.
I grew up in Birmingham but I’m currently living in Leeds, studying Fine Art at Leeds Arts University. Although I used to primarily be a painter, since coming to university I have begun to explore a wider variety of practices, including collage, videography, animation and creating installations.
My work heavily revolves around the inner workings of my mind, my projects always aligning with the events of my personal life. Throughout my time at university so far, I have addressed multiple aspects of mental health - for example, the benefits of art for those with depression and anxiety, investigating the calming effects of light and colour, and how OCD can present itself in art. I've gained inspiration from many artists such as Yayoi Kusama, Christina Troufa and Sol Lewitt.
At the beginning of this year I received an Autism diagnosis. Learning this information about myself at 20 years old was both startling and relieving. Through the use of 2D, 3D, and 4D work, I intend to explore my thoughts and feelings while I navigate this period of my life.
Stay tuned to see lots of new exciting art from me!
